Teaching Practice
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and think critically. Intelligence plus character; that is the goal of a true education.”

- Martin Luther King Jr.
Philosophy of Teaching Statement
I believe as an practicing art educator, my philosophy is that the art classroom is a space where students and learners can have the opportunity to explore their own thoughts, develop critical thinking skills, and express themselves in a creative form, in a safe and accepting environment.
Art has no boundaries, no specific language or requirements. I aim to create an inclusive environment in the art room.

Art education should encourage students to think outside of the box and express themselves. Students can develop as artists but also as individuals. I advocate for fostering an environment that motivates students to engage in experimenting with new materials or ideas and make mistakes. Through these strategies, I believe the learning allows for a more personalised and meaningful artistic experience.

I believe as I continue to have the opportunity to teach students about the world of art, I will always be learning alongside too. Providing students the skills and knowledge to develop creativity, critical thinking and self-expression.
